Danijel Jurakić, PH.D.
Danijel Jurakic received his PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Kinesiology, Croatia. He conducted his postdoctoral training at Faculty of Sport, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. His main research interests are: prevalence, determinants and outcomes of physical activity on population level and evaluation of different kind of physical activity interventions. He has published more than 40 scientific papers, co-authored two university textbooks, and co-authored four proceedings book from international scientific conferences. He is a member of International Network of Time-Use Epidemiologists (INTUE) and institutional representative in HEPA Europe.

Currently, Danijel Jurakic is Assistant Professor and Leader of Laboratory for Physical Activity Epidemiology and Promotion at Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He teaches several courses on master and doctoral degree level related to the field of physical activity and health. He has coordinated or collaborated on multiple EU-funded international projects focused on promoting health through sports clubs.

Željko Pedišić, PH.D.
Željko is a Professor of Active Living and Public Health and the President of the International Network of Time-Use Epidemiologists (INTUE). His research is centred around chronic disease prevention and promotion of well-being through healthy use of time. His interests span: prevalence, determinants, and outcomes of unhealthy time use; statistical and measurement methods in time-use epidemiology; and public health surveillance, policies, and interventions.

He is the author of the framework for Viable Integrative Research in Time-Use Epidemiology (VIRTUE) and the framework for Comprehensive Analysis of Policy on Physical Activity (CAPPA).

He has authored 109 full-text articles in peer-reviewed journals (63 as the first, corresponding and/or senior author and 18 as the second author), 5 books, 16 book chapters, 10 pop-sci articles and infographics, 5 academic reports, and >70 conference papers and abstracts. He has been cited >10,000 times; H-index = 52; Field Weighted Citation Impact = 3.13. As a supervisor or methodological consultant, he contributed to 4 bachelor, 25 master, and 17 PhD research theses.

Since 2020, he has been included in the Elsevier’s annual lists of top 1% researchers globally. He is currently ranked among the top 0.38% of researchers globally in all fields of science.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing piano, composing music, shooting hoops, cycling, skiing, and eating pizza.

Željko Pedišić
Željko is Professor of Public Health and Leader of the Active Living & Public Health research group at the Institute for Health and Sport, Victoria University. His research is centred around chronic disease prevention and promotion of well-being through healthy use of time. His interests span: prevalence, determinants, and outcomes of unhealthy time use; public health surveillance, policies, and interventions; statistical methods in epidemiology; and measurement methods.

He holds an honorary title of Assistant Professor of Quantitative Methods at the University of Zagreb. He is Secretary of the International Network of Time-Use Epidemiologists (INTUE) and Coordinator of the Victoria University Public Health Network (VUPHN).

His academic career started at the University of Zagreb, where he worked for nine years as a methodological consultant and lecturer/senior lecturer in statistics and theory of measurement. In 2011/12, he was an Erasmus Mundus funded postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Sport Science, Karl-Franzens University of Graz. In 2013, he joined the Prevention Research Collaboration at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney to continue his postdoctoral research. Since August 2015, he has been employed at Victoria University.

His publication record includes >80 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, one book, one textbook, three book chapters, four academic reports, ten pop-sci articles and infographics, and >60 conference papers and abstracts. As a methodological consultant or supervisor he contributed to four bachelor, 25 masters and 17 PhD research projects.

He received several academic awards; the most prestigious being National Prize for Young Scientists, Croatian Parliament, 2010 and Vice-Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in Research, Victoria University, 2018.
