22 Oct The Communication and Knowledge Translation Committee
The Communications Committee is now called “The Communication and Knowledge Translation Committee“ to emphasize the inclusion of knowledge translation.
Knowledge translation helps to provide diverse tools for researchers and decision-makers to promote evidence-based information and practices (WHO, 2023). The World Health Organization defines knowledge translation as the following:
“The synthesis, exchange and application of knowledge by relevant stakeholders to accelerate the benefits of global and local innovation in strengthening health systems and improving people’s health” (WHO, 2023).
Changing the name of the Communications Committee highlights the emphasis of knowledge translation within the committee and the AHKGA. Although, the AHKGA has always included knowledge translation into their work, including presentations, creating meaningful partnerships, and publishing Report Card-related peer-reviewed publications.
