AHKGA Celebrates its 10th Anniversary!

Today, May 21st, 2024, the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary!

The AHKGA was established in 2014 with a mission to power the global movement to get kids moving through thought leadership, knowledge translation and mobilization, capacity building, and advocacy. This is facilitated by sustainable partnerships and cross-sectoral collaborations that enable best-practice exchanges, networking and cross-fertilization.

Here is a list of AHKGA’s most notable achievements in the first 10 years:

  • May 25, 2018 – The AHKGA became officially incorporated as a not-for-profit organization.
  • August 14, 2018 – The first Memorandum of Understanding for a long-term partnership with an international organization – International Sport and Culture Association – was signed.
  • September, 2019 – The international impact of the AHKGA physical activity Report Cards for children and adolescents was assessed and published.
  • February 7, 2020 – New standing committees – Communications, Partnerships, and Fundraising – were formed as part of  AHKGA administrative advancements.
  • April 6, 2020 – Guidance on healthy movement behaviours for kids during the COVID-19 pandemic was developed and translated into 6 languages.
  • December 6, 2023 – A new AHKGA standing committee – Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) – was formed.
  • January, 2024 – A global call to include data on children and adolescents with disabilities in Global Matrices was issued.
  • March, 2024 – Over 7000 citations from over 230 Global Matrices and Report Card-related peer-reviewed publications were accumulated.
