03 Aug Malaysia Releases Their Physical Activity Report Card

On 22 June 2023, Active Healthy Kids Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) officially launched the Malaysia 2022 Physical Activity Report Card for Children and Adolescents with Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance and Sun Life Malaysia. The primary goal of this gathering was to garner support from key stakeholders and policymakers for the expert panel’s recommendations. The event was attended by 100 participants from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Local Government and Development as well as researchers from research institutions in Malaysia.

The main highlight of the report card was its revelation of the current grades and the need for collaboration among all stakeholder to promote active lifestyle among Malaysian children and adolescents. Following the launch, a forum was conducted, featuring panelists from government agencies, academic, and research institutions. These expert panelists engaged in discussions regarding the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on children’s lifestyle and proposed suitable actions to increase the physical activity level of Malaysian children and adolescents. The launch event ended with a press conference and the Report Card was widely covered by local media.
